The Search tab allows you to customize settings related to search operations.
Use the same font for the Find drop-down list box as the font of the currently opened window.
When the Change Font for Find/Replace Drop Down List check box is checked, the same font is used for the Find drop-down list box as the font of the currently opened window only if the font character set of the currently opened window is the system default character set.
If this box is checked, EmEditor highlights the strings that have been replaced with the Replace in Files command. If not checked, EmEditor highlights the searched strings.
Specifies whether a period can match new line characters when searching for a string using a regular expression. A regular expression \s can match new line characters when a number greater than zero is specified in the Additional Lines to Search for Regular Expressions text box even if this is not checked. Except for the Find in Files command, the actual number of lines that can be matched depends on the number specified in the Additional Lines to Search for Regular Expressions text box.
If this is checked, the keyboard shortcuts in the Find and Replace dialog boxes will be disabled.
If this is checked, EmEditor will display a dialog box to prompt the user when Search reaches the end of the document.
Specifies the number of additional lines to search for a string when using a regular expression. EmEditor passes a string line by line as a parameter to the regular expression function. By this method, however, the regular expression <td>.*?</td> would not be able to match a string between <td> and </td> if the string contains a new line. Specifying a number greater than zero in this text box and checking the Regular Expressions Can Match New Line Characters check box will enable searching for the string with up to the specified number of new lines. On the other hand, the Find in Files command always searches from the whole file independent of this option.
Specifies the maximum number of files to replace when the Keep Modified Files Open check box is checked in the Replace in Files command. The default value is 32. If a larger number is specified, many windows will be launched at the same time and EmEditor will consume more resources.
If this is checked, the focus will be switched to the editor after searching using the Find Toolbar.
If this is checked, the Find Toolbar will be closed after searching using the Find Toolbar.
