Double byte characters are shown as squares Hi everyone,
I have a strange issue in 11.0.5. On one machine I can see Japanese and Chinese normally, but on another I see them as squares. Weird thing is that I don't remember changing anything and I know Japanese and Chinese used to display correctly on both machines. What should I check? What setting? thanks for help! Localizer |

Re: Double byte characters are shown as squares Hello,
You might want to change the font so that it can show Japanese and Chinese. If that doesn't help, please do this: Using the Registry Editor (regedit.exe), please find the key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\EmSoft\EmEditor v3\Common and insert a new REG_DWORD value called UseUniscribe as 1. By default, this vaule is set to 0 (Windows Vista or 7), and 1 (Windows XP or earlier). The only issue is that the Unicode Ideographic Variation Sequence (IVS) may not work when this value is 1. I hope this helps. Thank you!
