I am missing this functionality I saw somewhere:
when I highlight a word or just any string or a combination of them in a line/sentence the status bar would list the string's length.

It currently displays the line # and the char position at the cursor, but the length is super useful when say figuring out string length issues (e.g. deviation from specs) in say a comma separated values file.
