Paid upgrades for licenses purchased on or after November 1, 2011
We have been providing free upgrades for EmEditor Professional from v4 through v10. We realize that this is a major benefit for users, and we thoroughly appreciate your participation and support. Unfortunately, due to the recent difficult economic climate, it has become impossible for us to continue offering free upgrades to all users.
Thus, in order to allow us to continue the development of EmEditor, for users who purchase new licenses on or after November 1, 2011, upgrades will be paid. We plan to keep the upgrade fee as low as possible.
Licenses purchased before November 1, 2011 will be the same as before. They are eligible to be upgraded for free as long as they are registered at the Emurasoft Customer Center. The date of purchase can be verified in your purchase history at the Emurasoft Customer Center.
Currently, EmEditor programs are separated into the trial and the full-version. Switching from the trial to the full version requires you to first uninstall the trial and then install the full-version. Beginning with v10.1.0, the trial will become the same as the full-version (as it was in v8 and earlier), and simply entering a registration key during the trial will switch the program to the full-version. We hope that this will make your use of EmEditor smoother and more intuitive. Thank you.
Deadline for product registration for free upgrades
The product registration for free upgrades from EmEditor Professional v8 or earlier that we offer at the Emurasoft Customer Center will end on October 31, 2011. In order to ensure smooth upgrades in the future, if you have a license for EmEditor Professional v8 or earlier, but have not registered your license for a free upgrade, please register your license at Emurasoft Customer Center for the upgrade before November 1, 2011. If you do not register your licenses, the future upgrade eligibility, whether free or paid, will expire.
Today, we are releasing EmEditor Professional v10.0.8.
Updates from v10.0.7 include:
- Worked around the issue where some customers experience EmEditor may close a few seconds after launched with the error message: "A program file has been corrupted. Uninstall, download, and install the product again."

- Fixed the bug where text might not be wrapped at a right position when the Wrap by Page mode is selected.

Today, we are pleased to announce the release of EmEditor Professional v10.0.1.
Updates from v10.0.0 include:
- Fixed the bug where vertical selection editing did not work well when the virtual space was on.
- Fixed the bug where the caret did not display after the Auto Detect Result dialog was dismissed.
- Fixed the bug where full-width bracket auto-complete on the selection did not work.
- Fixed the bug where the Backup Folder in the Backup tab of configuration properties may display the wrong absolute path when a relative path is specified (the actual backup works correctly).
- When the About dialog box appears immediately after EmEditor launches, the "Validating" status will now change to "Registered" after validated.
- Removed 30 minute limit on the Trial version.
- In case of passing the standard input to an external tool, EmEditor now closes the standard input after all the text has been passed (Ruby support).
- Fixed the bug where EmEditor slows down when the ruler is on and when the window is large in height.
- Fixed the bug where EmEditor did not display a warning message when a very large file fails to save because the file permission denies written to the file.
- EmEditor now doesn't automatically save a workspace if a large file is included in the workspace when exiting EmEditor. This prevents EmEditor wasting time to launch by trying to load a workspace automatically with a very large file.
- When INI files are used (for portable edition), EmEditor now disables the "Check for Updates" and "Customize Update Checker" commands.
- EmEditor now enables the "Copy File Path Name" command even when a Find in Files result is active document.
- Fixed the bug where the default check status of the "Synchronize Vertical Scrolling when Split" and the actual status was opposite.
- Fixed the bug where the Previous Cell command did not work.
- Fixed the bug where the Paste command did not work well when the Sticky Vertical Mode is on.
- Fixed the bug of the auto indent feature with regular expressions.
- Fixed the bug where sort commands were enabled even when the Read Only mode is on.
- The number of encodings displayed in the menu was adjusted. Additional encodings can be added by the Define Encodings command.
- Other Bug fixes.
- Added the Czech, English (U.K.), French, German, Italian, Russian, and Spanish User Interface.

EmEditor Professional 10 will be released on June 30, 2010. This major upgrade includes many new and helpful features not available in Version 9. Before the v10 release, you have the opportunity to download and try out the Release Candidate (RC). Now is a great time to test out the new features that will be available in the official release, and to let us know if there is anything you feel needs tweaking.

- The RC version requires you to enter a registration key for v10 (except for the trial version). Please visit the Emurasoft Customer Center, and go to Purchase History to request a new registration key for v10.
- If you bought v9 through Share-it, an account was automatically created for you. You can use the same email address you used to purchase through Share-it, and the temporary password that was emailed to you when you purchased. If you don't have the password, you can reset the password through this link: https://www.emurasoft.com/support/forgot_password.php
- If you purchased an older version of EmEditor Professional, and if you never upgraded to v9, this is a good time to upgrade your copy. If you never created an account with Emurasoft Customer Center, you can create an account at https://www.emurasoft.com/support/
- The RC version expires on July 31, 2010. Before this date, you will need to update to the release version in order to continue using EmEditor.
- We recommend that you uninstall v9 or other older versions of EmEditor before installing the v10 RC

If you use Norton Internet Security 2010, the "Download Insight" dialog box might appear and warn that "you are one of the very first Norton users to download this file." Please do not be concerned about this warning. It is only based on the statistics on the number of users who have used this file, and it does not mean the file actually contains a virus. You can safely select "Run this program anyway" to install the program.

Updates from 9.13 include:
- Removed the trial installation check from the full-verison installer. Nevertheless, you should uninstall already installed copy if the installed version is newer than one that you are going to install.
- If an unavailable network file exists in a project, the Projects plug-in now allows you to press ESC to cancel loading a solution file. Also, the "Show Read Only Icons" check box was added to the plug-in properties.
- Fixed Update Checker bug (it might have checked while EmEditor is unregistered even if the "Prompt before checking for updates" is checked).
- Fixed Replace dialog bug (checking "Search All Open Documents" should gray out "In the Selection Only" check box).
- Fixed the Snippets plug-in bug.
