In case you’re interested, I did find out what the problem is. It’s a bug in the VirtualBox guest additions for 4.1.0. I did not have the problem until I installed them, and could downgrade to the previous version, and the problem went away.

Once I figured that out, I found at least one other post on the web with someone who was having the same issue with some graphics software, like CorelDraw.

    Thanks again for the help.

I can’t reproduce it on other PC’s either, which is why I think it’s a windows problem of some kind. I did try resetting all of my configurations, and that didn’t fix the issue.

Looks like I’ll have to migrate to a different virtual machine, since I also am unable to go back to various windows restore points on this one.

Thanks for looking into it for me. I’m a big fan of emeditor!

To further clarify, it’s behaving as if the EmEditor window size isn’t being recognized correctly. The cursor changes to the pointer that should work in the line number section too soon, and when I click at that point, it highlights a line below the pointer, instead of the one the pointer arrow points to.

e.g. If I try to move the cursor to the line number for line 20, it changes to a pointer while it is still over the text pane of the emeditor window, and if I click the mouse, it highlights line 21 or 22, not line 20.

Any help would be appreciated, as this is one of my most-used features of the product.

    Thanks,

Yes, it’s the latest version, and the line numbers are visible. It used to work exactly as you described, but at some point it began to behave this way.

Just before the cursor enters the section that shows the line numbers, it changes into the backward mouse pointer, and when I try to put it into the number section, it hops to the outer margin of the emeditor window. It only happens on one PC, so I’m pretty sure it has something to do with Windows.

It is acting like the left margin does in word, as described in this link below, instead of the way it is supposed to work, not sure if there is some way to clear out something from the registry, or anything that would let me start from scratch and get it to work right again.

I am having a problem with the line number frame. At some point, I lost the ability to click on the numbers themselves to highlight a line of text. I used to be able to do that, but now the cursor switched to a reversed pointer (points up and to the left), and when that happens, it jumps to the outer edge of the emeditor window.

I found posts on other forums that say this is a feature in Word, when you put the cursor into the left margin, and I verified that it does do that in Word, but I need to be able to click on the line numbers in emeditor.

Any ideas what would cause this, or how I can undo it? I tried un-installing and re-installing emeditor, and upgrading to the newest version, and I even cleared out old settings when I un-installed the older version, but the problem persists.
