One feature that I would love to see in EmEditor is the support of DirectWrite.

DirectWrite is available since Windows Vista SP2 and offers superior font rendering compared to the old GDI system used by EmEditor. Specifically, it supports sub-pixel shaping/rendering and bi-directional anti-aliasing (versus GDI only supporting horizontal anti-aliasing).

You can find more about the differences here:

I know of at least one other Windows editor (no need to name competitors) that already added support for DirectWrite. The differences in font rendering become noticeable in particular when you spend hours starring on the screen as I often do.

    Thanks for your consideration. ;)

EmEditor now supports DirectWrite on v17.6.0 beta 1.

    Thanks!
