Suppose you split window into 2 vertical panes like:
LEFT: 10\% wide
RIGHT: 90\% wide

Definitely right half is wider. But text in it will still be wrapped by width of left pane. So you’ll see lines awkwardly cut in the middle with LOTS of unused whitespace in the right part of right pane.
