I constantly work with data in text file formats. One of the more useful things from EditPlus that I’d love to see added to EmEditor is the ability to do more with a highlighted column. An insert / replace of that column, a function to insert detail at column X….

Version 7 allows you to convert/replace within box selection. You can now replace something within box selection. Please let me know your specific needs if this still does not work for you.
