    Make 2 selections/carets.
    Remove 1 by using “Deselect Top/Bottom Selection from Multiple Selections” command.
    Now there’s only 1 selection/caret. And it’s not multi-selection mode.

    Make 2 selections/carets.
    Remove 1 by using Ctrl+clicking.
    Now there’s only 1 selection/caret.
    ** But it’s still in multi-selection mode, e.g.:
    The selection has a frame.
    The “Current Line Background Color” does not revert.
