disappearing search dialog

i’ve been using emeditor for years, and i’ve never seen this behavior. suddenly, whenever i search (or search/replace, or find in files, &c.) the dialog pops up, i enter a string to find, press enter, the first entry is found and highlighted … and the search window disappears!

i’ve reinstalled emeditor (v 6.00.4) and rebooted my computer, to no effect.

i thought i might have accidentally changed some option, but i can’t see where.

can anyone help?

duh

the checkbox “Close when finished” on the find dialog was checked.

well, at least it forced me to register for this forum.
