Today, we are releasing EmEditor Professional v14.3.0 beta 1.

Updates from v14.2.2 include:

New General Features

• The new ability to highlight changed/saved lines on the left edge of EmEditor windows. “Yellow” means changed lines, and “dark green” means changed but saved lines.
• The new marks on the vertical scroll bar allows you to view changed lines, saved lines, bookmarks, lines matched with searched strings, and the cursor position. The left half indicates changed (“yellow”) and saved (“dark green”) lines and bookmarks (“brown”). The right half indicates searched strings (“light green”). The cursor position is indicated by a blue horizontal line.
• Middle-click on a scroll bar now scrolls the document to the specified position.

Vertical lines (green and yellow) to indicates changed/saved lines on the left edge of the window. Marks on vertical scroll bar (on the right edge of the window) show changed/saved lines, bookmarks, searched strings, and the cursor position.

New Options

• The Show Marks on Vertical Scroll Bar, Changes, Bookmarks, Found Strings, and Cursor Position check boxes on the Scroll tab of configuration properties.
• The Highlight Changed/Saved Lines check box on the Marks tab of configuration properties.
• The context menu displayed when right-clicked on a scroll bar includes the Scroll Properties.
• The message box displayed at the end of document while searching now includes both OK and cancel button and allows you to cancel the search.

• Scroll Page Left

• Scroll Right Edge

Bug Fixes

• Fixed the bug related to highlighting a searched string.
• Fixed the bug where the Move Line Up and Move Line Down commands could work.

To use v14 beta, you will need a v14 registration key. If you have valid v13 licenses, you can view your free v14 registration keys at Emurasoft Customer Center.

Hi,

Many Thanks for the new highlighting for changed lines. I very much appreciate that feature, so I instantly bought I license.

What I don’t like in the new beta version is the new scrollbar class. Please, give us at least the option to stay with the standard windows scroll bars. Personally, I don’t need the hightlighting on the scrollbar but for people who wants to use such a feature, I think it could be shown beside the scrollbar like here:

I also found some bugs in the beta 3:

1.) If you have a very long line (2000 or more character) and line wrap disabled, try to scroll with the vertical scrollbar. This is very laggy now.
2.) Not exactly a bug but at least odd: If I have word wrap enabled, EmEditor wraps long before the end of the window is reached. I’m using a smaller scrollbar size than the standard windows size) There are often 3-4 unused rows that just stay blank. You can see that very clearly if you just type in characters without spaces.

Please, how can I install the new beta(s) over the previous one without uninstalling it first? So far, I have to uninstall the older beta to be able to install the new one. I am using Custom option during the installation and this way I have to check/uncheck all the items I need once again.

Hi Ivan,

Please uninstall older beta versions first, and then install a new version. There is a logic to automatically uninstall older versions, but I think it works only in English. I will improve this on the new beta versions (on v14.4 or later). Thank you!

On the Scroll tab of configuration properties, is “Show Scroll Bars Only in Active Pane” checked? If this is checked, the scroll bar disappears when EmEditor loses focus.

Hi Yutaka,

found a crash bug in the beta. Steps to reproduce:

1.) Open EmEditor
2.) Open the “Find in Files” or “Replace in Files” dialog.
3.) Let the dialog open und close the editor.

A crash report appears after closing the app.

Another problem I had with Find/Replace in files:

If any other option instead of “Display File Names and Lines” is selected, the functions to locate the results (Double click, Jump, Jump Next, Jump Previous) doesn’t work any longer.

Also is there a way to mark/hilight the search-strings in the out window?

I am sorry, but I couldn’t reproduce the issue (Let the Find inFiles dialog open and close the editor). There might be a certain condition. Also, v14.3.0 is officially released. Please don’t use the beta versions any more. Use the release version now.
