To update

If you use the installer version, please select Customize Update Checker on the Help menu, and set the Include preview versions in order to update automatically to future preview versions. Preview versions can also be downloaded at Previous versions.

preview 1 (25.0.901) – April 7, 2025

– Enhanced the Chat with AI features, and revamped the user interface of the Chat with AI window.[P]
– Significantly sped up the Replace All command, particularly with specific line breaks.[PF]
– Improved the speed of the Find All command.[PF]
– Made multiple selections faster, including the Vertical Selection command.[PF]
– Boosted filter performance when incremental search is enabled.[P]
– Increased efficiency when saving workspaces with large files.[P]
– Added the ability to drag and reposition the title of a custom bar in any direction.[PF]
– Enabled users to choose a web browser within EmEditor for displaying URLs using external tools.[P]
– Enhanced CSV printing.[P]
– Made toolbar borders invisible in dark mode for a cleaner appearance.[PF]
– Fixed an issue where switching to dark mode in Windows settings wasn’t reflected in EmEditor’s appearance.[PF]
– Fixed a crash that occurred when using the Convert Binary File to Base64 command with large files.[PF]
– Resolved a problem where dragging and dropping buttons from the macro toolbar could open incorrect files if the ChatAI plugin was disabled.[P]
– Fixed a potential issue where AI output might be compared and split with documents other than the intended one.[P]

preview 2 (25.0.902) – May 1, 2025

– Resolved an issue that caused frequent crashes on preview 1.
– Fixed an issue that could cause a crash when opening a very large file.
– Changed the default setting for the Very Dark option to be turned off.

preview 3 (25.0.903) – May 7, 2025

– Added a new ▼ button to the right of the custom bar title, which lets you move the window down and to the right. You can also reposition it by dragging the custom bar title.
– Improved the process for uninstalling the ChatAI plugin.
– Fixed an issue with the server-side update definition file that caused the ChatAI plugin to install during an EmEditor update, even if it hadn’t been installed before.
– The dialog asking you to choose between EmEditor Professional and EmEditor Free will no longer appear when you first launch EmEditor. You can opt for EmEditor Free by selecting Downgrade from the Help menu.
– Improved the speed of the Invert Bookmarks command.
– Fixed an issue related to the background drawing of line numbers.
– Fixed an issue reported by a customer (1).

– Improved the process for uninstalling the ChatAI plugin.

preview 5 (25.0.905) – May 11, 2025

– Added the List of Bookmarks command and Bookmarks custom bar.[PF]
– Added “Unlimited” to the Days text box for saving bookmarks on the History page of the Customize dialog, restoring the ability to save bookmarks permanently.[P]
– Improved the startup speed of EmEditor and enhanced performance related to bookmarks.[PF]

preview 6 (25.0.906) – May 12, 2025

– Fixed the display issue in preview 5.

preview 7 (25.0.907) – May 14, 2025

– Added gpt-4.1 to the list of Preferred Models in the AI Options page of the Customize dialog box, and made gpt-4.1 as the default preferred model. [P]
– Removed Save log check box and text box from the Chat with AI page of the Customize dialog box. [P]

preview 8 (25.0.908) – May 14, 2025

– Fixed the default preferred model for OpenAI.

preview 9 (25.0.909) – May 16, 2025

– Improved the speed of startup.
– Fixed dark mode issues.

preview 10 (25.0.910) – May 18, 2025

– The startup speed of EmEditor has been improved.
– Code that had been retained for compatibility with versions older than EmEditor v22.3 (released more than three years ago) has been removed. If you are using a version older than v22.3, it is recommended that you first update to v25.0.1, and then update again to the latest version.
– Fixed customer reported issues (1).

preview 11 (25.0.911) – May 19, 2025

– Fixed an issue with the toolbar when updating from an old version.

preview 12 (25.0.912) – May 20, 2025

– Fixed a bug in preview 11 where the bookmark list was disabled.
