Macro access to other Plug-ins? Specifically snippets

Is it possible to call a snippet in a macro?

I’m creating a toolbar that holds commands I use when performing a specific task. One of the items is a snippet. Is it possible to execute a snippet from a macro, or baring that, to directly add a snippet to a toolbar?
