I think I’ve posted this enhancement request in the old forum before. I like to see the search plugin to provide an API to allow scripts to fill in the search result table. This would enable a very powerful way to navigate a large text file with some internal structure (yet can’t be parsed by a simple text search).

My use case would be an unix mbox file. This is basically one large text file with a list of email messages in it. I like write a script to parse the date and subject and have to listed in the search result table for navigation. I think it will be useful for a variety of files, say docbook, source code, etc.
