    how can I search and select/highlight all characters of specific language?

    I am not sure what language you are looking for, but see: /help/faq/search/search_reg_exp_ex.htm

    For instance, If you want to highlight only Hiragana, you can use [x{3041}-x{309e}] as a regular expression to search for.
