Snippet keyboard shortcuts ignored when the cursor is past the end of the line

Snippet keyboard shortcuts, e.g. Ctrl+U, don’t work when the cursor is past the end of the line.
This is the case for both macro and plain text snippets.

Is this intended?

The reason for asking is that its easier to organise my macros in the snippets add on.
