I can’t reproduce both the issues you explained.
The Properties for All Configurations can be slower when using the portable version.
Which version of EmEditor are you using?
Please make sure you are using the latest version, currently v14.5.0.
Thanks!June 28, 2014 at 5:10 am #18604

I reproduced the issue with the Outline with narrowing, and I will fix this in future versions.
Are you using INI files (portable version)? The Properties for All Configurations can be slower when using the portable version.

Thank you fix the issue.
Yes, I’m using INI files and portable version.
But V13 portable version is faster than V14.5 portable version.June 29, 2014 at 8:48 am #18608
Can you please tell me how many seconds it takes to close the Properties for All Configurations?June 30, 2014 at 7:33 am #18609
It takes less than 0.5S to open the Properties for All Configurations with V13.
It takes 2S to open the Properties for All Configurations with V14.5.
It takes the same time to close the Properties for All Configurations.June 30, 2014 at 1:18 pm #18610
If you have assigned keyboard shortcuts (especially macros and/or plug-ins), EmEditor becomes slower.
If you don’t mind, can you reset all configuration properties. The easiest way is go to “Define Configurations” dialog box, and click “Reset All”.
Thank you,July 2, 2014 at 5:43 am #18623
I Reset All, and it is still slow.July 2, 2014 at 10:18 am #18624
The reason is v14 includes the Outlining and other properties which use more settings. These settings are stores in the INI files if you use the portable version. If you are placing emeditor.exe in an USB drive, you might want to copy emeditor files into a hard drive, and run EmEditor from the hard drive.
However, we still encourage using the installer whenever possible. EmEditor runs faster in the installed version (using the Registry).
