One program, two editions
EmEditor Free and EmEditor Professional use the same installation and executable file. Your license and settings determine which edition is active.
After installing EmEditor, you can use all Professional features for 7 days. When the trial ends, EmEditor automatically changes to the Free edition unless you purchase a Professional license.
You can change editions at any time in EmEditor: Help → Upgrade or Downgrade.

New Installer (MSIX)
For Windows 11, Windows 10, and Windows Server 2019 or later. Microsoft Store is not required.
- Installation and updates: Opening the downloaded .appinstaller installs the signed EmEditor MSIX package. You will then receive updates automatically.
- Note: The .appinstaller is a small configuration file that specifies where to obtain the MSIX package. See FAQ.

Alternative EmEditor downloads
- Download the new installer version (.msix body only, for offline installation, no updates)
Download only the new installer (.msix) body for a computer that is not connected to the internet. If you install with this, automatic updates will be disabled in the future.
