Can you try turning off this Display a tray icon when Windows Starts option first, restart EmEditor, and then turn on this option again?

This has solved the issue! Thank you very much for your help!

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to mention that this option is set too. But it won’t be launched at windows boot and next time the Display a tray icon to the task bar option is set back. The Display a tray icon when Windows Starts check box is still checked.

    Dear Yutaka,
    Thanks for your reply.
I’m not sure what you mean by ‘Sync feature’ but if you refer to the windows sync, used to sync multiple computers, I don’t use this at all. I might have customized my menus in the past. I can’t remember exactly, but it’s definitely possible. So maybe, to prevent overwriting my custom settings, some steps have not been executed? That’s the only thing I could think of. In fact not a big issue, I already have repaired all affected entries, which was easy with the menu editor.
    Thanks for your support!

Many thanks for implementing this in 16.8. Much appreciated!
The undo history is also another great new feature. Comes in very handy, thanks!

Your suggestion works too, but is remarkably slower on my machine. Thanks anyway, it’s always good to know all possibilities.

Thanks for the clarification, I didn’t realize you are talking about the [External Tool] function only.

My custom explorer (Directory Opus) only can catch SHOpenFolderAndSelectItems calls. Most of the applications I work with are already using this method. EmEditor was an exception, but thanks to Yutaka, EmEditor now also support this. So I would be disappointed if this change would be reverted.

If an application is launching windows explorer explicitly, then windows explorer will open and my custom explorer doesn’t have any chance to jump in.

Also thanks for the hint with the Tools/External Tools/Explorer function. I indeed can assign a shortcut to this function, however the current file is not being selected but I guess that’s what you want to be changed?

I hope this doesn’t mean that this will be reverted to the old method? I couldn’t use shortcuts to my custom explorer any longer in that case which would be disappointing and I would consider to keep my current version in that case.

If that’s the plan, an option would be nice.

    Many thanks for consideration,
    Kind regards,

Thanks for getting back to me with this.

It’s up to you but I think all users would benefit from a more flexible customization. It would be a huge plus if all the commands from the TAB section could also be used in the menus or for shortcuts.

Many thanks for your consideration, much appreciated!

Is this now possible in 16.7.1? Tried to figure out how, but still couldn’t get it to work.

    Thanks,

Is there a way to assign a keyboard shortcut to this function?

    Awesome, thank you so much!

If by any chance this function also could be added to the normal file menu, that would be a big plus. (At the moment this function can only be chosen from the tab menu if I got that right).

    Again, many thanks for support!

    Hi Yutaka,

Yes, the dialog box appears, but regardless the settings, no sort operation is performed when I choose “Sort now” or “Sort opposite”.

I’ll send you a more detailed report with a sample file via mail, because I haven’t found a possibility here to attach files.

Sorry for reopening this, but I regularly need this too and just copying the status bar info is not sufficient. For our text staticics we need lines, words and character stats for localisation partners.

The word count plugin is fine, but each time I need it, I manually have to read and type in the results.

Please, add a copy to clipboard function for the results.

I would like to see such an option too, or is it already possible? I mean that paranteses are hilighted if the cursor is in between, not only if the bracket is selected?

    Thanks,

    Hello,

just want to jump in to say that I would like to see exactly this feature too. A similar find in files result window as Visual Studio or Notepad++ are providing would be absolutely perfect.

At the moment this is my only major complain with EmEditor, everything else is perfect:)

    Thanks,

Another problem I had with Find/Replace in files:

If any other option instead of “Display File Names and Lines” is selected, the functions to locate the results (Double click, Jump, Jump Next, Jump Previous) doesn’t work any longer.

Also is there a way to mark/hilight the search-strings in the out window?

    Thanks for all improvements,

    Best Regards,

    Hi Yutaka,

found a crash bug in the beta. Steps to reproduce:

    1.) Open EmEditor
2.) Open the “Find in Files” or “Replace in Files” dialog.
3.) Let the dialog open und close the editor.

A crash report appears after closing the app.

    Hope that helps,

    Hi,

Many Thanks for the new highlighting for changed lines. I very much appreciate that feature, so I instantly bought I license.

What I don’t like in the new beta version is the new scrollbar class. Please, give us at least the option to stay with the standard windows scroll bars. Personally, I don’t need the hightlighting on the scrollbar but for people who wants to use such a feature, I think it could be shown beside the scrollbar like here:

    http://codinghorror.typepad.com/.a/6a0120a85dcdae970b0120a85ddd3d970b-pi

I also found some bugs in the beta 3:

1.) If you have a very long line (2000 or more character) and line wrap disabled, try to scroll with the vertical scrollbar. This is very laggy now.
2.) Not exactly a bug but at least odd: If I have word wrap enabled, EmEditor wraps long before the end of the window is reached. I’m using a smaller scrollbar size than the standard windows size) There are often 3-4 unused rows that just stay blank. You can see that very clearly if you just type in characters without spaces.

    Thanks for all improvements,

    Kind Regads,
    Skeeve
