The digital signature of a program files could not be verified (when the Internet connection is unavailable).
If you run EmEditor on a PC without an available Internet connection, you may run into issues such as:
- A warning dialog box “The digital signature of a program file could not be verified.” appears when you try to launch EmEditor.
- The digital signature of EmEditor files (such as
EmEditor.exeand.msiinstaller) cannot be verified. - EmEditor launch takes longer than expected.
In these cases, please connect to the Internet while you run EmEditor or verify the digital signature of program files. Once the Internet connection is made, you can continue to use EmEditor without the Internet connection.
If it is not possible to connect to the Internet, please install the intermediate CA of GlobalSign by following these steps (v25.1.0 or later):
- Go to Code Signing (Standard & EV) Intermediate Certificates.
- Click on Download Certificate (Binary/DER Encoded) to download the
.crtcertificate. Copy the file to the computer on which you intend to run EmEditor. - Double click on the downloaded file and Open the certificate.
- In the Certificate dialog window, click Install Certificate.
- Follow all the default options in the Certificate Import Wizard.
For EmEditor v25.0.3 or earlier:
- From an Internet-connected PC, go to “How to Download & Install Sectigo Intermediate Certificates – RSA”
- Download “Standard Sectigo RSA Cod Signing CA” in the “Code Signing” section.
- Copy the downloaded file to the target offline PC where EmEditor files exist.
- On the target PC, right-click this file, select “Install Certificate”. “Certificate Import Wizard” appears.
- Follow the wizard to select “Place all certificates in the following store”, click Browse, and select “Intermediate Certification Authorities”. Click Next to import the certificate.
Once the certificate has been installed, you should be able to follow the article How to verify the digital signature of an EmEditor installer to verify the digital signature of a .msi installer or .exe file.
