New General Features
- Starting with this version, only 64-bit editions of Windows 8.1 and later are supported and optimized. EmEditor v25.1 is the last version to support Windows 7 or 32-bit editions. [PF]
- The new version allows you to configure the date and time formats for the sort functions. Previously, an API function for Windows Automation was used, but it lacked support for detecting the exact date and time formats. Specifying the date and time formats increases the sort speed. The previous behavior is still used if date and time formats are omitted. [P]
- The Toolbars dialog box has been moved to the Toolbar Options and Toolbar Buttons pages of the Customize dialog box. The new UI allows any command to be added as a button, not just predefined buttons. In addition to basic toolbars, you can now also customize the Find, Filter, and Markdown toolbars. [P]
- If a macro file does not have a Unicode signature (BOM), the new version displays a dialog box that allows you to select the encoding with which the file should be opened. [P]
- Improved the speed of startup and the date filter.

New Options
- Added the Use default date formats check box and drop-down list to the Sort page of the Customize dialog box. [P]
- The options in the Toolbars dialog box were moved to the Toolbar Options and Toolbar Buttons pages of the Customize dialog box. Also added the Toolbar Button Properties dialog box. [P]
- Added the Size slider to the Toolbar Buttons pages of the Customize dialog box. This allows you to set the width of the drop-down list box for the Find and Filter toolbars.
- The options in the Customize Menus dialog box were moved to the Menus page of the Customize dialog box.[P]
- The options in the Define Encodings dialog box were moved to the File Encodings page of the Customize dialog box.[P]
- The options in the Chat with AI page of the Customize dialog box were moved to the Chat with AI settings. [P]
- Added a > button to the right of the Search text box in the Customize dialog box. Clicking this button opens a menu where you can add either the Search All Options or Filter/Sort command. If you choose Filter/Sort, you can now show or hide individual pages and freely rearrange their order. [P]
- Added the Always open macros without a Unicode signature (BOM) as UTF-8 check box to the Options page of the Customize Macros dialog box. [P]
- Added the Filter/Sort dialog box.[P]
- Added a Clear browsing data button to the Web Browser page of the Customize dialog box.[P]
Plug-in New Features [P]
- Enhanced the Chat with AI features, allowing you to use additional AI services including local AI models installed via LM Studio, Deepseek, other compatible AI services. To use AI services other than OpenAI, you need to specify the AI service you want to use in the settings of the Chat with AI window. Settings for API keys and options for AI Prompts were moved to Chat with AI settings.
- The EE_GET_VERSION message now returns the version number multiplied by 10000.
